The Ilpurla Trail will develop young guides over the coming generations. The hope of the program is that to be an Ilpurla Guide is a worthwhile aspiration for the young people of Hermannsburg. Over time, the entire range of careers will hopefully become available to the local community, from guides, to track builders, to office workers, to internet and web designers, marketing and sales. 

Indeed, as a business which can develop into a large enterprize, all the roles associated with a modern corporation can be developed. That is the challenge of the Ilpurla Trail.

The Traditional Owners have stressed this as the primary purpose for their agreement to allow access into their homelands. This is something that has never been achieved before and represents an enormous opportunity for the community to grow and develop.

Already in the first trial year, the young people of Hermannsburg were enthusiastic and willing workers in the establishment of the trail. A culture of pride in the trail is being developed and which can only continue to grow as the community see how highly their assets of culture and country are prized by walkers.

This is a truly exciting project, not for the next 20 years, but for the next 100.
